METRO Society, the leading lifestyle magazine and top specialty retailer SSI Group, Inc. hosted an exclusive fashion and charity affair for the benefit of Make-A-Wish Philippines, a non-profit organization that helps grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions last September 17 at the ballroom of City of Dreams in Parañaque City.
Now on its third outing, the Metro Society Benefit gathered the Metro’s prominent personalities to encourage them to unite and raise funds for Make-A-Wish Philippines.
Highlight of the event was the fashion show featuring the Autumn/Winter 2015 collection of Brooks Brothers, the oldest American clothing brand (since 1818) whose roster of distinguished customers range from nearly every US president to Hollywood royalty and today’s well-known personalities.
The brand, which recently provided all the costumes for the film remake of The Great Gatsby starring Leonardo di Caprio, has been supporting Make-A-Wish Foundation for the past 15 years. “SSI, as their exclusive distributor in the Philippines, also shares this belief of social consciousness and responsibility as the hallmark of any successful company,” said SSI Group Inc. president Anton Huang.
“We support the advocacy of SSI Group Inc. and Brooks Brothers to create an atmosphere of positivity in the lives of these children. We encourage Manila’s society to take on an active role in making a difference,” said Metro Society’s editor-in-chief Raul Manzano who led the toast preceding the show.
The touching finale number had 17-year-leukemia - stricken Mary Rose Bermejo whose wish to walk down ramp in Brooks Brothers was granted to the cheers of the audience.
Since 2013, Metro Society has been leading successful charity events to rally together Manila’s notable personalities to support important advocacies. The first beneficiary was Sagip Kapamilya of ABS-CBN Foundation for their rebuilding efforts in Typhoon Yolanda-affected areas. Last year, efforts were directed towards AIDS awareness via TREAT Asia.
