Miss Mermaid Philippines Kayla Marie Partosa Talusan, 23, a Culinary Arts student from San Juan City was named as Miss Mermaid International for Asia at the international pageant held at Sheraton Soma Bay in Hurghada, Egypt last Saturday.
The Miss Mermaid International 2015 title was won by Miss Germany while the runners-up were from Austria and the Baltic Sea.
An excellent swimmer and zumba enthusiast, Talusan competed alongside 18 other delegates worldwide in long-distance swimming, underwater posing, mermaid costume, as well as subsidiary competitions of a traditional pageant like talent and evening gown.
Talusan was sent to the international tilt by Ovet Ricalde, the local licensee of the pageant that pays tribute to the universal appeal of the legendary aquatic creature.
